FAQ

Is Tungle a calendar?

No… not yet. Tungle.me enhances your existing calendar, giving it the flexibility and agility you need to easily schedule meetings with anyone, inside or outside your company, no matter what calendar type they’re using.

It is intended to work hand in hand with your existing calendar, not as a standalone calendar.

Why would I use Tungle.me over just my calendar?

Your calendar is fine if you only schedule with people on the same calendar type or within your company. The trouble is when you start trying to get together with people from outside the company, in different time zones, or on different calendar platforms.

With Tungle, you can easily schedule with people on any calendar platform. You can propose multiple times in meeting invitations to one or many people, and share your availability (without disclosing your calendar details) via your profile page with anyone, regardless of what calendar they use.

People you schedule with, or who request meetings with you through your profile page, don’t need a Tungle account. Tungle also automatically prevents double bookings and adjusts for time zones, so you don’t even have to think about that.

Your calendar alone doesn’t give you that much agility.

Will my calendar be public for people to see?

No. When you sync a calendar with Tungle it is private by default. That means, your profile page will only show free/busy information (the blocks of time when you are free and busy) – it will not show details of what’s on your calendar.

If you are signed into your account, you will see your calendar details both in your account and when visiting other people’s profile pages. You only see this when you are signed in – no one else sees this.

That said, you can choose to make select events public on your profile page, make a full calendar public, or share a full calendar with only specific people. But by default, everything is private. Nothing is shared unless you specifically request it to be shared or made public.

Can I use Tungle to sync all my calendars to each other?

No. You can sync multiple calendars to Tungle and view your aggregate schedule inside Tungle, but this will not sync your calendars to each other outside of Tungle.

For example, you can sync a Google and an Outlook calendar to Tungle and view both calendars overlaid in your Tungle account, but Tungle will not pass your Google information over to Outlook and vice versa.

Also, when you book new meetings through Tungle, those meetings will only be added to one of your synced calendars. This is called your default calendar and you can choose which calendar is your default.

Can I use Tungle on my phone?

Yes. You and the people you schedule with can reply to Tungle meeting invitations on any smartphone, without downloading an app or even needing an account.

Public profiles are also compatible with mobile browsers (currently in Alpha – please bear with us as we move forward), so you can freely share your profile URL and others can easily schedule with you wherever, whenever.

There are also fuller-featured app available for BlackBerry.

Will people I schedule with have to create an account?

No. People can reply to your meeting invitations, or send you invitations through your Tungle.me page, without ever signing up or downloading anything.

When someone sends you a meeting invitation through your profile page, Tungle will ask them to confirm their email address – this is not a registration. We require this confirmation for two reasons: 1) to prevent you from being spammed, and 2) so we have a valid email address to send the meeting confirmation once it’s booked, and any updates you make to the meeting.
